Social media trolls go after Miranda Lambert

You just can’t win these days. When country singer Miranda Lambert, 32, posted a picture of herself and main squeeze Anderson East, 28, at Thursday’s 50th Annual CMA Awards on Instagram, she was surprised to get hit with a torrent of critical comment. Online trolls contended the couple, who look a little awkward in the proud tradition of the staged snapshot, appeared miserable and are probably on the rocks. Some also laid in to East’s tuxedo and his just-a-little-short trousers. In a subsequent posting, Lambert denounced “cowardly people hiding behind a keyboard or a cell phone writing their useless comments.”

Stars will phone for Hillary in Highland Park on Sunday

Working a phone bank is seldom glamourous. But a big exception will occur at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, when “Scandal!” stars Tony Goldwin, 56, and Katie Lowes, 35, pitch in to help local volunteers at the Hillary for Michigan Phone Bank in Highland Park. The dialing and star-gazing all happens at 1891 Woodward.

Bublé’s 3-year-old son has cancer

Actor and Grammy-award-winning singer Michael Bublé, 41, announced on Facebook that his first-born, Noah, 3, has been diagnosed with cancer. “We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US,” Bublé wrote. “Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well,” he said in the posting, and asked that people respect their privacy. The couple has one other son, Elias, who’s not quite a year old.

Chef Chiarello busted

Police arrested “Easy Entertaining” chef Michael Chiarello for a DUI and possession of an unidentified controlled substance Wednesday in Napa County, California. The 54-year-old restaurateur was stopped in his Porsche at 3:30 a.m. when driving home from his Yountville establishment, Bottega Ristorante. He was released on $5,000 bail. A spokesman told People that Chiarello intends to fight the misdemeanor charges. Two days before his arrest, his lawyers reached a financial settlement with two former employees who’d claimed sexual harassment — no details on how much that cost the chef.
