J. Lo and A-Rod vacation in the Bahamas, Ed Sheeran to guest star in “Game of Thrones” and more celebrity news

Tyra Banks to host ‘America’s Got Talent’

Former “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks will host season 12 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” Judge Howie Mandel announced the news in a tweet Sunday night by welcoming Banks into the “family.” Other judges include Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell. Banks, 43, confirmed the announcement with her tweet: “Surprise! TyTy is the new host of #AGT.” Banks is taking over for Nick Cannon, who quit last month after NBC reportedly threatened to fire him due to racially charged jokes he made during a Showtime comedy special. Cannon hosted the reality show for eight seasons. A new season premiere date has not been announced.

J. Lo and A-Rod vacation in Bahamas

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez took a romantic getaway this past weekend to the Bahamas, Page Six reports. The couple stayed at the exclusive Bakers Bay Golf & Ocean Club — a hot vacation destination for celebrities and athletes, including Reese Witherspoon, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. Page Six confirmed last week that the 47-year-old singer/actress and 41-year-old former New York Yankee star have been dating for months.

Ed Sheeran to guest star in “Game of Thrones”

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will guest star in season seven of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff revealed the news Sunday during a South by Southwest panel. Benioff shared that he had tried for years to get Sheeran on the show for “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams, who’s a huge fan. Sheeran, 26, soon after tweeted, “guess the cats out of the bag …” and linked to a Vanity Fair article announcing the news. Previous musical guest stars on the fantasy TV series have included Coldplay, Mastodon and Of Monsters and Men. The season premieres July 16. Sheeran will perform at Little Caesars Arena Sept. 27. Tickets go on sale Friday.
