Kendrick Lamar possibly takes shots at Big Sean
Is Detroit rapper Big Sean the target on Kendrick Lamar’s latest track? The song in question, “The Heart Part 4,” was released late Thursday and immediately had fans thinking Lamar was going after Sean in a whole mess of lines that we simply cannot print in a family newspaper. Sean is never mentioned by name, but the two share a history of subliminal beef that dates back to when the two MCs appeared together on Sean’s track “Control.” Lamar’s track ends with an ominous warning: “y’all got ’til April 7 to get your (stuff) together.” Will Sean respond? We’ll see.
Cher backs out of ‘Flint’ project
Cher will no longer be starring in the Lifetime movie “Flint,” about the city’s water crisis. The legendary actress and singer was attached to star in the film when it was announced in January but is dropping out for family reasons, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “This has been a project so near and dear to my heart, and I was truly looking forward to helping tell this story,” Cher said in a statement to THR. “Unfortunately, I will be unable to leave Los Angeles during the scheduled filming as I am dealing with a serious family issue that prevents me from going on location for the April filming. I’m so glad that (produers) Craig (Zadan) and Neil (Meron) plan to move ahead, and I know that this Lifetime movie will be done beautifully.” “Flint” is based on a 2016 Time magazine cover story titled “The Toxic Tap,” and Cher was set to star as a Flint resident. No replacement has been announced.
‘Transformers’ footage screening locally
If you just can’t wait until June 23 to get your “Transformers” fix, we’ve got good news. Footage from the upcoming “Transformers: The Last Knight” — filmed in part here in the Motor City! — will be screened during an exclusive first look on Tuesday at the AMC Livonia 20. The theater is one of 28 North American cinemas that will be screening the exclusive IMAX footage, and this is the only chance to lay your eyeballs on it. The Michael Bay-directed film stars Wahlburgers’ own Mark Wahlberg, alongside Optimus Prime and the remnants of the Pontiac Silverdome.
