Andrea Isom joins WXYZ and WMYD
Veteran Detroit on-air reporter Andrea Isom has joined the WXYZ-TV and WMYD-TV teams as a reporter and 7 Action News investigator on both WXYZ and TV20. Isom was a reporter for Fox 2 Detroit for more than a decade and also has experience in the Kansas City and Dayton markets. A graduate of Ohio State University, she has also worked on the nationally-syndicated show “Crime Watch Daily.” “Through my work on ‘Crime Watch Daily,’ I have grown tremendously as a person, a journalist and a storyteller,” Isom said in a news release. “As a reporter with the 7 Action News team, I will be able to deliver long-form stories about people, issues, tragedies and triumphs in a unique, memorable and engaging way.” Isom, a Cleveland native, will start on 7 Action News on June 19. “Andrea’s investigative experience and unique style of storytelling will be a great addition to the 7 Action News team,” said Mike Murri, vice president and general manager of WXYZ and WMYD. “Andrea was a favorite of Detroit-area viewers as a reporter at WJBK and as a national reporter at ‘Crime Watch Daily.’ I know they’ll welcome seeing her work on 7 Action News at WXYZ and on TV20.”
Jerry Seinfeld refused to hug Kesha, but it’s OK
Sometimes when celebrities who don’t know each other collide, it’s not always hunky-dory. While comedian Jerry Seinfeld was giving a video interview with a local news reporter at a “Night of Laughter & Song” event at the Kennedy Center on Monday, pop star Kesha asked for a hug. Seinfeld rejected her offer, repeatedly saying “no thanks,” and she walked away. Seinfeld admitted to not knowing who the blonde woman was, and the reporter let him know it was Kesha. “Oh, OK, well I wish her the best,” Seinfeld said. Kesha didn’t seem too upset, tweeting soon after that she had “lots to smile about.”
‘Road Rules’ contestant found dead
Danny Dias, a star of season 13 of MTV’s popular reality show competition “Road Rules,” was found dead in his Brooklyn apartment Saturday, TMZ reports. According to police sources, a friend of the reality star saw him take LSD and magic mushrooms and shortly after “freaked out” and ran into his room. TMZ reports that Dias was found with two vertical lacerations on his forearm, and his death is being looked as a possible suicide.
■Actress Jaime Pressly, 39, is pregnant with twin boys. She told People magazine that she and her longtime boyfriend, Hamzi Hijaz, are “completely shocked.” “Twins don’t run on either side of our families,” she said. “This wasn’t IVF or anything like that. It was just a shock, and I’m like ‘Doctor, that’s impossible!’ ”
■Actors Jonathan Silverman and Jennifer Finnigan are expecting their first child after 13 years together. They were introduced to each other by “Friends” star Matthew Perry at a barbecue in 2004 and married in 2007, according to People.
