Elton John is bidding farewell to the yellow brick road of touring, but not before one last go at it.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform at Little Caesars Arena on Oct. 12 on his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” outing, said to be the superstar’s final tour, promoters announced Wednesday.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Feb. 2, but American Express card holders will get a first shot at tickets beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.
John’s final tour, which will include more than 300 shows on five continents, was announced at a press conference on Wednesday. “It’s time to come off the road so I can fully embrace the next important chapter of my life,” he said.
The tour’s North American leg kicks off Sept. 8 in Allentown, PA and runs through March 2019. He’ll travel to Europe in summer 2019, Asia in late 2019 and Australia in early 2020.
John’s last local concert was a Nov. 2013 show at Joe Louis Arena.
