Casting directors for Spike TV's "Bar Rescue" show have contacted a handful of businesses in Metro Detroit to invite them to apply to be on the reality show.
The show, now in its fourth season, stars veteran food and beverage industry consultant Jon Taffer who, along with a team of professionals, works to rehabilitate struggling bars and restaurants. A typical episode may show Taffer and staff exposing what's wrong with the establishment, and then offering solutions to remedy the problems. Often the bars get full cosmetic make overs free of charge.
Casting agents from Metal Flowers Media reached out to New Dodge Lounge in Hamtramck on Thursday to gauge the owner's interest in being a part of the show.
New Dodge bartender Andrea Bonaventura confirmed that casting representatives called the bar and then spoke with the owner Cathie Gordon.
"She wants to do it," said Bonaventura, adding that she thinks Gordon's outspoken personality would be perfect for the high-drama show.
The website barrescueupdates.com revealed the show would be looking in Detroit and other cities for businesses to feature and renovate for the upcoming season. Bar and restaurant owners interested in being considered for the show can apply at metalflowersmedia.com or visit facebook.com/metalflowersmedia.
