An Oakland County couple will take their house hunt to the airwaves in an upcoming episode of HGTV's popular "House Hunters."
Jeff Bortnick, who owns his own real estate firm, New Home Experts RealtyCQ in Royal Oak, says he didn't even know his wife, Michelle, and his business partner, Louis Bitove, had applied for the Bortnicks to appear on "House Hunters" last year when they got word producers were interested.
Working with Bitove as their Realtor, Jeff and Michelle, who were living with Michelle's parents in West Bloomfield at the time, spent five days in the last summer filming with a crew, narrowing their search to a new construction home in Royal Oak, a home that needed renovations in Berkley, and another older home in Huntington Woods. Their budget was $250,000-$300,000. Jeff says he wanted newer construction, while his wife wanted something older with charm and character.
"It was fun," says Botnick, a Toronto native who says Huntington Woods reminded him of home. "It's eight hours a day of filming typically, so it's a process."
So which house did the couple choose? Stay tuned; their "House Hunters" episode airs at 10 p.m. tonight Wednesday on HGTV and again at 1:30 p.m. March 29.
