The first of four episodes of “Bar Rescue” featuring Metro Detroit businesses will air Sunday on Spike TV.
In March, The Detroit News reported that the reality show, which stars food and beverage industry consultant Jon Taffer, was sniffing around the Detroit area looking for establishments that would like to be part of the fourth season.
On Sunday’s episode, titled “Vulgar Vixens,” Taffer will tangle with the owner of Hooch Bar and Grill in Dearborn Heights. In a preview of the episode, Taffer calls the owner of the bar “quite possibly the most unlikeable person I have ever seen” for the way she degrades her female employees.
“I will not rescue your bar if you disrespect (your staff),” yells Taffer in a preview of the episode.
Apparently he did help them out, as Hooch’s has a new name: Proving Grounds Bar & Grill. The episode debuts at 10 p.m. Sunday.
On Nov. 22 Ann Arbor sports bar the Arena will be the target in an episode titled “Unnecessary Toughness.” According to the “Bar Rescue” episode guide on Wikipedia, other episodes filmed in Detroit are scheduled to air on Dec. 6 and 13 at a jazz club and a strip bar, respectively.
