Dressed as a skeleton, the former Lions wide receiver earned a perfect score for his ‘Mr. Bones’ quickstep

Former Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr. earned the new nickname of “Megabones,” thanks to Monday’s Halloween- themed episode of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”

With skeletons and giant spider webs on the dance floor, the seven remaining couples performed in spooky makeup and sexy costumes, then competed against each other in a dance-off.

The couple who earned the highest score from the judges in Round One was going to win immunity and be safe from elimination this week. But in the Halloween spirit, things got a little twisted when former Johnson and partner Lindsay Arnold; Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy; and IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe and stand-in partner Jenna Johnson all earned perfect 30 out of 30 scores. As a tiebreaker, the reality TV show combined the judges’ scores from the whole season — granting immunity to Hinchcliffe.

Johnson and partner Arnold were nearly unrecognizable as skeletons. Their quickstep to “Dr. Bones” by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies prompted judge Julianne Hough to swap Johnson’s “Megatron” nickname to “Megabones.”

“We’re under the spell of Calvin, the voodoo master,” said judge Bruno Tonioli, adding that their performance was “superb.”

Last week, Johnson and Arnold tied at the top of the leader board with Hinchcliffe and his partner Sharna Burgess.

However, Hinchcliffe encountered a roadblock, as Burgess sat out this week due to a knee injury from rehearsals last Monday. Johnson — the first professional dancer eliminated with actor Jake T. Austin — subbed in for Burgess. It’s unclear if Burgess will return next week.

Country singer and actress Jana Kramer of Rochester Hills and partner Gleb Savchenko performed to “Little Shop of Horrors.” Their energetic jazz number complete with flips and splits earned a high 27 from the judges.

“It was really bright and entertaining, and it certainly showcased your flexibility,” Inaba said. “I was like, ‘Can she do any more splits?’”

Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte and partner Cheryl Burke were eliminated.
