The hit broadway musical “Hamilton” is coming to Detroit, the show’s producer Jeffrey Seller said during a Detroit Homecoming event Thursday evening.
Seller, an Oak Park native, would not say exactly when the musical will visit the city but assured an audience that Hamilton would take the stage at his favorite theater, the Fisher Theatre.
Seller made the announcement during an interview with Crain’s Associate Publisher Ron Fournier at Orchestra Hall which was recorded and posted on the Crain’s Detroit website.
In the video, Seller says he expects “Hamilton” will come to Detroit within 21/2 years.
The hip-hop musical tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton. It won 11 Tony Awards in June, following a record 16 nominations.
“Hamilton” will expand its shows to Chicago this fall.
