Detroit police are investigating a suspicious item found outside Cobo Center Friday morning, officials said.
Someone called in to report the item, a television without a cord, around 11:13 a.m., said Chief Anthony Mason of the Detroit Fire Department.
The television was left on the riverfront side of the convention center.
Fire engines and ambulances lined Washington Boulevard near Fort Street Friday morning while Detroit police worked the scene along the riverfront.
Business continued as usual at Cobo Center with a Women of Color Stem conference. By around 12:40 p.m., police said they investigated the item and determined it wasn’t dangerous to the public.
Visitors were blocked from walking near the riverfront exit.
