A car crash on Detroit's east side Thursday morning killed two women and required an 8-year-old boy to be rushed to the hospital.
The crash took place about 6:50 a.m. on northbound Chene at the Interstate 94 service drive, said Dave Fornell, deputy commissioner of the Detroit Fire Department. The area is near the GM Poletown plant.
The vehicle, a 1993 Ford sedan, "hit multiple poles" before crashing. One woman was ejected from the vehicle and died. Another woman died inside the vehicle. Police say the driver is a 41-year-old woman, but had no age for the other woman.
Medics rushed the 8-year-old boy to a local hospital. The child's condition wasn't immediately available.
