Detroit Police are investigating a Tuesday night carjacking of a 76-year-old woman, officials said.

The incident happened at about 8:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of Sheridan near East Grand Boulevard and East Forest Avenue on the city's east side, police said. No one was injured.

Jennifer Watson, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman, said the woman was leaving her sister's home and got into her red 2006 Chrysler Pacifica when she heard a knock on the window.

She looked at the window and saw a man standing outside the car door with a gun in his hand, pointed at her, according to police.

The suspect ordered her out of the vehicle and she complied, police said. The man got behind the wheel and drove the car northbound on Sheridan and then westbound on Forest, in the opposite direction of the road's traffic, Watson said.

Police said the suspect is described as an African-American male, 25-35 years-old, 5-foot-7-inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds. He was also wearing a beige, mid-length coat and red skullcap.

Anyone with information about the suspect should call the Detroit Police Department's Seventh Precinct at (313) 596-5740 or Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
