Michigan State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash this week in Bruce Township that left a driver dead.

Metro North Post troopers were called to the scene near Van Dyke Avenue and 34 Mile about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday after a 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer and a 2000 Chevy Blazer collided, investigators said in a statement.

The TrailBlazer had been heading north on Van Dyke, but crossed the center line and struck the other vehicle head-on as the road starts to curve east, state police reported.

The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Blazer driver, identified as a 57-year-old woman from Imlay City, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities do not believe alcohol was involved in the crash but are continuing to probe the cause. Information from the investigation will be forwarded to prosecutors for review.
