Motorists who travel Eight Mile near Hoover Road will have to find another route to get east, state officials said.
Michigan Department of Transportation officials said eastbound Eight Mile at Hoover will be closed after noon Wednesday for an emergency repair to a railroad crossing. The roadway will be closed through Friday afternoon.
Officials said traffic will be detoured to northbound Hoover to eastbound Nine Mile to southbound Groesbeck Highway and back to Eight Mile.
They also said drivers should expect delays and may want to use another so-called "Mile" road to avoid the closed section of roadway.
More than 27,000 vehicles travel a day the stretch of eastbound Eight Mile between Van Dyke and Hoover Road, according to the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments' latest traffic counts.
