— A group of students from Cody High School got a lesson in African-American history Thursday from former Mayor Dave Bing and a group of current and former Pistons players.

As part of the celebration of Black History Month, the 25 ninth-graders and five mentors toured the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History with Bing, Pistons guards Reggie Jackson and Jodie Meeks and former Piston Earl Cureton.

The program was sponsored by Sprite and the Bing Youth Institute, which the former mayor and Pistons star created last year to find adult male mentors for black men in Detroit.

The Wright Museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary in March.
