A Brighton man has been arrested and charged by Michigan State Police for possessing child porn, officials said Thursday.

Todd Burton, 65, turned himself into troopers at the 21st District Court in Garden City, they said. He was formally charged in court Wednesday.

Officials said their investigation into Burton stemmed from a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Detectives located a business in Garden City and residence in Brighton from the tip, they said.

Investigators searched both locations and confiscated multiple devices and evidence, according to authorities.

Burton has been charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity, three counts of possession of child sexually abusive activity and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of child sexually abusive activity, four years for each count of possession of child sexually abusive material and seven years for each count of using of a computer to commit a crime.
