Orthodox Christians in Metro Detroit joined worshipers around the world on Sunday to celebrate Christmas, nearly two weeks after Dec. 25, to honor the birth of Christ.

The day, designated by to the Julian calendar, is filled with traditions that vary across the globe. In Metro Detroit, children, including those from the St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral's church school, dressed as Mary and Joseph and performed the Nativity Story.

Others attended Christmas church services, including those led by Father Dragan Micanovic on Sunday at St. Lazarus Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Detroit.
