Ypsilanti — Elijah Minnie tossed in 24 points and James Thompson IV finished with his 18th double-double of the season to help Eastern Michigan hold off Miami (Ohio), 58-57, on Tuesday night.

Minnie hit four 3-pointers and added nine rebounds and three blocked shots for the Eagles (15-11, 6-7 Mid-American Conference), who beat the RedHawks (13-13, 6-7) for a sixth straight time.

Thompson scored 14 with 14 rebounds and four blocks. He came in ranked third in the nation averaging 12.0 rebounds and fourth in double-doubles.

Minnie nailed a 3-pointer to begin and end an 11-0 run and the Eagles led 21-9, increasing their lead to 33-18 by halftime.Jake Wright led Miami with 21 points, while Bam Bowman scored 11 with eight rebounds.

Central Michigan 80, (at) Northern Illinois 72: Kevin McKay came off the bench to score a career-high 33 as the Chippewas (16-10, 5-8 MAC) surged to the victory. Northern Illinois is 11-15, 4-9.

(At) Bowling Green 83, Western Michigan 81: The Broncos (15-11, 7-6 MAC) blew an 11-point halftime lead, and the Falcons (16-10, 7-6) won with late free throws. Thomas Wilder scored 18 to lead Western.

(At) Nebraska 70, Maryland 66: James Palmer Jr. scored 24 of his 26 in the second half, Isaiah Roby had all 11 of his after half, and Nebraska (20-8, 11-4) held off Maryland (17-11, 6-9). Palmer and Roby combined for 35 of the Cornhuskers’ 40 second-half points, and they secured their first 20-win season since 2008.

(At) Rutgers 67, Northwestern 58, OT: With senior captain Deshawn Freeman benched, star guard Corey Sanders had a game-high 30 points to lead Rutgers (13-15, 3-12 Big Ten). Sanders hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 5.9 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. Derek Pardon had 13 rebounds to go along with 12 points to lead Northwestern (15-12, 6-8).
