Jean Keller (nee McGillis)

Spring, TX - Jean Keller (nee McGillis) passed away peacefully on 10/19/21 in Spring, Texas. Jean was born in Evanston, Illinois on December 6, 1929 to John and Lillian (Gleason) McGillis.

Jean will be forever held in the hearts of her children Marty, John (Barbara), Greg (Paula), Therese Keller-VandenBelt (Garry), Bob (Debbie) and David (Lorraine); grandchildren Jonathan (Krista), Devin (Aimee), Kristin VandenBelt (Murat), Leah VandenBelt (Ali), Brennan, Alex St. Pierre (Lindsey), Abby (Kate), Kim; great-grandchildren Miles, Jack and Layla Shah; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog Heidi. Jean was preceded in death by her children Michael, Mary, Lawrence and Marie, sister Joan Mecoli and brother Tim McGillis.

Jean grew up in Ferndale, Michigan where she graduated from the St. James class of 1947. She was married to Ken Keller from 1950-1978. She earned her bachelors degree in psychology from Oakland University and applied that knowledge to a career in social work in the Detroit area. She later moved to Houston, Texas where she was employed by Continental Airlines until her retirement. Jean was a world traveler, visiting countries on every continent (save Antarctica) and experiencing and learning about different cultures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Throughout her life, she volunteered with many organizations.

A memorial will be arranged at a later date.
