William C. Long

Columbus, IN - William C. Long passed from this life at home in Columbus, Indiana at the age of 92 on October 19, 2021. He was born June 17, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Lawrence and Irena (Haskin) Long.

Bill graduated for Redford Union High School in 1948 and went on to serve in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a carpenter before forming Pleasant Valley Construction Company with a partner in the early 1960's. He formed his own residential building company, William C. Long Building Company in the mid 1960's. He built hundreds of homes in the Livingston County area in the 1960's and 1970's, before turning his attention to other endeavors that included: maintenance services, home remodeling, car sales, bar owner and carport construction. Bill enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, motorcycling and RV camping.

Bill is survived by his children, Renee (Bill) McCune, Martin (Nancy) Long, Nils Long and Michelle (Dale) Long; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Gloria (Seppala) Long; sons Kevin and Karl; brother, Melvin and sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held in Kalkaska, Michigan at a later date.

Bill's willingness to accept challenges and take risks allowed him to enjoy a long and fruitful life. He will be fondly remembered and missed by is heirs.
