Charles Roger Peterson, age 80 of Rochester Hills, passed into the presence of the Lord on August 2, 2022. Preceded in death by his loving wife Janet for 56 years. Dear father of Jayna (Mike) Golden, Charles Peterson, Todd (Krista) Peterson, and Alicia (Brian) Martin. Cherished grandfather of Bradford (Rebecca), Matthew and Alan Golden, Abigail, Rebekah, Benjamin and Elizabeth Peterson, Samantha, Caleb and Meredith Peterson and Haley, Jordan, Chase, Ashton and Tanner Martin. Brother of Alice (Ron) Ertel and Neal (Jane) and late Harold Dean and Dennis. Charles and Janet moved to Rochester Hills in 1976, where they built their dream home and raised their family. They were members of First Baptist Church of Rochester. Charles began his apprenticeship as a wood model maker at Pontiac Motors at the age of 18. He moved over to GM Truck & Bus in Pontiac and later worked at the GM Tech Center in Warren. He retired after 47 years of service. Charles was a born-again Christian. He will be remembered for exemplifying Christ with his gift of serving others. Over the years he looked after his older brothers with physical challenges, his widowed mother and then his wife after her stroke. Be it a needed home repair, medical supplies, hospital visits, a wheelchair stroll or preparing a pallet of supplies for a missionary in Africa, Charles was quick to act. As a wood model maker, he was always looking for new gift ideas. Over the years he built many treasured and artistic gifts - key boxes, jewelry boxes, candle holders, benches, marker holders, etc. Charles loved family! The birth of each grandchild, niece and nephew brought him much joy and excitement. He loved sharing photos and stories about each child with anyone looking for a friend at Tim Horton’s. He also enjoyed sharing how his family members were serving God around the globe. Charles will be interred at Mount Avon Cemetery on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Visitation will take place on Saturday August 13, 2022 at 10:00AM at First Baptist Church of Rochester, 6377 Orion Road, Rochester followed by a service at 11:00AM and a luncheon.
