Ted Decker Wasson, age 83 of Bonita Springs Florida and Bloomfield Hills, Michigan passed away on September 18th, 2022, in Anderson, South Carolina, while visiting family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Perkins), Daughters Julie Wasson Lundberg (Anders), Jennifer Wasson Yaker (Brad), son Paul (Lauren), and bother Don Wasson (Susan) of Albuquerque, NM. He was “Papa” to grandchildren Christopher Kabot (Mallory), Corey Kabot (Ali), Zachary Yaker MD, Eli Yaker, Jesse Yaker JD, Newell (Ellie) Wasson, Decker Wasson, and Samuel Wasson. Ted was born in Bluffton, Indiana on March 26, 1939, to Grace and Paul Wasson. Ted was an incredible athlete, winning the Indiana Boys Tennis championship at age 13. He was awarded an unprecedented 12 athletic letters at P.A. Allen High School and played basketball for Michigan State University, graduating in 1961. He went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Michigan. Ted began his career as an administrative resident at William Beaumont Hospital and retired as CEO after 43 years. Ted loved Beaumont and the connections and community he built during his time there. He often said that he never worked a day in his life. Once retired, he enjoyed introducing the Bonita Springs community to Pickleball and never missed a Sunday night dinner with his beloved family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Beaumont Health Foundation, Nursing Education and Training Fund. Ted always said that nurses were his favorite people.
