Nolan Finley is editorial page editor of The Detroit News, a position he’s held since 2000. He directs the editorial expression of the newspaper, and writes his own twice-weekly column. Finley has been with The News since 1976, starting as a copy boy. He has served as a reporter covering the Detroit Mayor Coleman Young administration, city editor, politics editor, business editor and deputy managing editor, running the newsroom. He has won numerous writing and reporting awards, and in 2012 was named to the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame. He is a native of Cumberland County, Ky., and a journalism graduate of Wayne State University.
