Michigan pitches business, tourism to China
Lansing — Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is meeting with government officials and business executives during the opening portion of his trade trip to China.
The governor hosted a forum to promote Michigan to the Chinese tourism market and participated in a forum with automotive and business reporters, discussing Michigan’s economic performance and what will come after Detroit exits from bankruptcy.
Snyder says in a statement Friday “we are here to encourage Chinese travelers to visit Michigan and experience its vast offerings.”
Snyder’s office says a Michigan company visiting China signed a $2.6 million export agreement with a Chinese business. The agreement with Rochester Hills-based Air and Liquid Systems Inc. is expected to boost engineering and manufacturing jobs in Michigan.
Over the weekend, Snyder plans to travel to Guangzhou for an auto show.
