Metro Detroit cell phone users could notice disruptions in their service Thursday afternoon as providers work to resolve issues with vendor equipment.

According to the website DownDetector.com, service providers AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon Wireless are experiencing outages in cell phone service across Metro Detroit, stretching from as far south as Monroe and as far north as Rochester.

Verizon spokesman Trevor Thomas said Verizon service was restored at 5:45 p.m., about an hour after it went down. Thomas said the outage was caused by equipment from a third-party vendor.

T-Mobile said some Detroit customers may experience intermittent signal interruptions and that their network team is working to restore full service.

A Sprint spokeswoman described the outage as a cut AT&T cable on shared tower. Representatives for AT&T did not immediately return emails and calls for comment.
