Livonia — Building products maker Masco Corp. plans to move its corporate headquarters from one Detroit suburb to a smaller facility in another area community.

The Taylor-based company announced Thursday employees from its current headquarters will move into a 75,000-square-foot facility in Livonia near Schoolcraft College. The company said in September it was cutting jobs at its headquarters.

CEO Keith Allman says in a statement that the move “will provide a more collaborative, functional space and is an important step forward for us.” Masco’s current headquarters, built in 1966, has more than 400,000 square feet of office space.

Allman says: “Masco has had a long, successful history in Taylor and this campus has served us well.” The company says its Masco Research and Development Center will stay in Taylor.
