Wild mushroom soup sold at Whole Foods recalled
An Illinois food company is recalling its wild mushroom soup sold by Whole Foods in Michigan and elsewhere because it may contain chestnuts which are not listed on the label.
People with a chestnut allergy or severe sensitivity could have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction to the soup, according to officials for Brett Anthony Foods of Elk Grove Village.
No illnesses have been reported, according to the company.
A total of 109 of the 24-oz cups were sold at Whole Foods stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota and Nebraska. The soup is labeled Whole Foods Market, Wild Mushroom Soup, and has an expiration date of Nov. 12, 2015.
A Whole Foods employee discovered the problem.
Costumers who bought the soup can return it to Whole Foods for a full refund. Those with questions can call (847) 272-4309.
