Buddy’s Pizza marks 70th anniversary with mural
Buddy’s Pizza is marking its 70th year of business by hiring Detroit street artist Fel3000ft to create a mural depicting the Spirit of Detroit statue enjoying a square slice. The 100-foot-by-200-foot mural is being painted on the wall of the original Buddy’s at the corner of Six Mile and Conant in Detroit.
Fel3000ft spent Thursday with his spray cans at the pizzeria. He started creating street murals in 1982 and did some of the early works at the Dequindre Cut in the 1990s. He now creates commercial murals, including one on the side of Hopcat Brewery on Woodward that shows a woman’s face flowing into a skull of gears.
