Milk, ice cream recalled at Northville’s Guernsey dairy
A Northville dairy has announced a voluntary recall of products that were not checked for proper pasteurization, according to the company.
Guernsey Farms Dairy is recalling five products, including milk, egg nog and ice cream, “out of an abundance of caution” after the failure of a piece of equipment normally used to verify pasteurization, officials said.
The products were primarily sold in southeast Michigan stores. No illnesses have been reported in association with the recall, officials said.
The recall includes:
■ Guernsey Farms Dairy skim milk, gallon size, with a code date of Oct. 20, 2016
■ Guernsey Farms Dairy egg nog, quarts and half-gallons, with a code date of Oct. 21, 2016
■ Guernsey Farms Dairy ½ percent milk, half-gallon size, with a code date of Oct. 11, 2016
■ Guernsey Farms Dairy butter pecan ice cream, 48-ounce size, with a product code of 27116
■ Guernsey Farms Dairy French vanilla ice cream, 48-ounce size, with a product code of 27016
Anyone who has purchased an affected product is asked to dispose of the item or return it to the place of purchase for a replacement.
