Downtown Detroit Markets to return in spring, summer
Following the success of the Downtown Detroit Markets this winter, small-business owners, artists and entrepreneurs are invited to apply to participate in a similar concept this spring and summer.
More than 50 small businesses will have an opportunity to test market their products before investing in long-term spaces, according to officials with Bedrock and the Quicken Loans Community Investment Fund.
The residencies will last from April to September in two locations in the city’s downtown.
The Downtown Detroit Markets winter season ran from November to January. The market generated more than $2 million in sales for the 38 vendors that sold their goods in booths in Capitol Park and Cadillac Square.
“We were very pleased with the success of the Downtown Detroit Markets this winter and are thrilled to welcome new vendors this upcoming season,” Francesca George, director of tenant relations and experience at Bedrock said in a statement. “We are continuing to use this market strategy as a unique way to give these local entrepreneurs an opportunity to sell their products and showcase their brands. We will continue to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience throughout the city with new dining, beverage, retail and entertainment options.”
The spring and summer market’s focus will be on bringing new food, beverage and art vendors into the city, officials said.
Applications are open through March 18. The vendor announcement will be made March 22.
