Grant program helps Detroit company build showroom
Detroit – A nearly century-old business has opened a new decorative plumbing showroom with money from a program designed to boost retail in Detroit neighborhoods.
A ribbon-cutting was held last week at Advance Plumbing and Heating Supply in Detroit’s Midtown.
The company was founded in 1920 and provides plumbing and lighting supplies to plumbers, designers and contractors. It was awarded a $100,000 Motor City Match grant to assist with building the 20,000-square-foot showroom.
Mayor Mike Duggan says Advance Plumbing “stuck with Detroit when a lot of others didn’t and it’s wonderful to see it flourishing.”
The Detroit Economic Growth Corp. says Motor City Match has provided $6 million in grants.
