Target to hire 3,000 in Metro Detroit for holidays
Target Corp. is hiring 3,000 workers in Metro Detroit to support the holiday shopping season.
The Minneapolis-based retailer said Tuesday it is adding 130,000 more seasonal employees nationwide for the fall and winter. That is 10,000 more workers than last year. Revenues at Target for the first and second quarter of this year have met or surpassed that of the fourth quarter of 2018. The final months of the year typically are retailers' busiest.
Approximately 125,000 new hires will fill a variety of roles in Target's stores while another 8,000 will join distribution and fulfillment centers across the country.
All Target stores are holding hiring events from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 11-13 and Nov. 2-3 to allow job seekers to meet with store leaders and interview on the spot.
Wages start at $13. The company says it also is offering to the workers additional hours based on preference and availability, store discounts and the opportunity to earn holiday pay on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
