Paris — Renault sales grew in the third quarter but registrations of new cars stagnated and the company lost market share at home and in South America.

The French car maker said revenue in the July-to-September quarter rose 6.7 percent to 8.53 billion euros ($10.9 billion), lifted by higher sales to partner car makers like Nissan and Daimler. Renault’s new car registrations were flat at 612,934 in the quarter.

In a statement Wednesday, Renault said its market share in France slipped by half a point, although its Clio small car remains the country’s top seller. Renault’s car sales in Argentina halved due to the economic turmoil there, leading to falling market share in the Americas region as a whole.

Renault forecast “adverse and volatile” conditions in emerging markets in the fourth quarter.
