Judges on Wednesday released the first list of vehicles that will be eligible for the 2017 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.

A total of 43 vehicles are available to take home the 2017 prizes, which will be announced Jan. 9 at Detroit’s North American International Auto Show. They include 27 cars, 12 SUVs and four trucks.

The SUV award is new this year; previously, utilities had been lumped together with pickups for truck of the year.

The Honda Civic and Volvo XC90 SUV won the 2016 awards.
