Audi to reveal Q8 concept SUV at Detroit auto show
Audi of America Inc. said Thursday it will showcase a Q8 concept SUV next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The German luxury brand said the Q8 has the styling of a coupe but is spacious. The front of the SUV is “imposing,” Audi says, and the SUV is wider than Audi’s currently produced Q models. Audi said many of the Q8 concept’s design elements look like the 1980s-era Audi Ur-quattro.
“With the Audi Q8 concept, we have created a new spearhead within our Q model line. Its design strongly evokes sportiness and prestige,” Audi head of design Marc Lichte said in a statement. “What’s more, we believe an important aspect of this showcar is that it offers a spacious interior with four equally comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line.”
Audi will hold a news conference at 8 a.m. Jan. 9, 2017, at the auto show and will reveal more details on the Q8.
