Subaru, Lexus win top resale honors
San Francisco – — Subaru and Lexus won top resale honors in Kelley Blue Book’s 13th annual resale value awards, released Friday as part of the National Automobile Dealers Association convention.
Subaru earned KBB’s “best resale brand” award, as well as model awards for its Impreza compact, WRX sporty compact and Legacy midsize. Lexus was named best resale value luxury brand; Toyota Motor Corp.’s luxury brand also won segment awards for the RC 350, GS 350, LS 460, GX 460 and LX 570.
Among domestic brands, General Motors Co. won model awards for its Chevrolet Camaro V6 sports car, Corvette performance car and Suburban SUV. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV won awards for its Dodge Charger fullsize car, Jeep Wrangler compact SUV and Wrangler Unlimited midsize SUV.
“While both Subaru and Lexus deliver incredible resale value, we also are impressed with the strides made by General Motors, which tops domestic automakers with seven combined awards for Chevrolet and GMC,” Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book, said in a statement. “The entire list of Top 10 Best Resale Value vehicles is dominated this year by trucks, SUVs and crossovers, which is a testament to the strength these categories will carry in the future.”
The winners are chosen based off projections from KBB.com’s residual value guide. Low-volume vehicles and vehicles with a starting price of more than $60,000 are excluded from award consideration, except in the plug-in vehicle, luxury and high-performance categories.
