Washington — Volkswagen AG said Tuesday it will recall 26,000 vehicles that may have fuel leaks in the United States: 2011-12 Audi S4, S5 and Q7; 2012 Audi A6 and Touareg Hybrid; and 2012-2013 Audi A7.

The German automaker said because of a combination of production issues and vehicle vibration during “dynamic driving, it is possible that, in rare cases, a fuel leak may occur in the vehicle’s fuel injection system.”

VW said there been no reports of accidents or injuries as a result of fuel leaks.

VW said in August 2013 the first customer complaints regarding gasoline odor coming from the engine compartment were received. Field investigations showed no problems. Further testing and analysis were conducted including simulations of different parts fitting situations performed on defective parts and vehicles.

Owners will be notified in March. Dealers will replace the fuel rails and seals.
