GMC reveals new Canyon Nightfall edition

General Motors Co.'s GMC brand Thursday said it will debut the 2015 Canyon Nightfall Edition pickup, a midsize truck decked out in black.

The 2015 GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition features a body-color grille, 18-inch aluminum wheels and black body accents.

GMC said the new onyx-black edition, which has a unique black grille, black assist steps, spray-on bedliner, special 18-inch aluminum wheels and many more features, will make its first public appearance at the North American International Auto Show next week in Detroit.

"The new Canyon Nightfall Edition expands the Canyon lineup and gives style-conscious customers another choice," Duncan Aldred, GMC vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement. "Importantly, customers get the great looks of the Canyon Nightfall Edition and its unique content at a greater value than ordering the features separately."

The Canyon Special Edition with a bold blacked-out front grille, is offered on SLE crew cab models in Onyx Black and will be available in the second quarter of 2015.

More than 40 percent of the first orders for the Canyon have included at least one accessory, GMC said.

A GMC spokesman said pricing for the special edition is not yet available, though the truck will be available in the second quarter this year. The Canyon Nightfall will be offered on the SLE crew cab, in either two-wheel or four-wheel drive.

GM rolled out new Chevrolet Colorado and Canyon pickups in fall 2014 after GM stopped producing old versions of the trucks in 2012. GM sold more than 3,000 Canyons in 2014.
