General Motors Co. said Thursday it will sell its Chevrolet Spark EV in Maryland beginning this spring, bringing the electric car to the East Coast.

The all-electric Spark went on sale in June 2013 and currently is sold only in California and Oregon. Spark EV sales totaled 1,145 last year, up 86.5 percent from 2013.

“The Spark EV has been one of the most well-received electric vehicles in the industry, and customer demand helped make the decision to expand its availability to Maryland,” Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of car marketing, said in a statement.

The Chevy minicar delivers 82 miles of city/highway electric range.
