General Motors Co.'s Chevrolet brand will launch a new Silverado Midnight special edition, on display this weekend at the National Automobile Dealers Association convention in San Francisco and slated to make a public debut next month at the Chicago Auto Show.

Chevrolet said up to 5,000 Silverado Midnight special editions will be produced in the 2015 model year. Dealers can order the trucks, available in either 1500 double-cab or crew-cab, starting in February.

Chevy built the special edition from a black Silverado Z71 and added more, including an all-black front end with black grille and bumper, 18-inch black painted alloy wheels; special Z71 door badges; black spray-in bedliner; and black Chevy bowties in the front and rear. They also include rear park assist and heated, power rear-view mirrors.

"The Midnight special edition, like our recently announced Custom Sport Silverado, lets our dealers offer a custom look right from the factory," Sandor Piszar, Silverado marketing director, said in a statement.

A Silverado Midnight special edition in a double-cab, four-wheel drive edition, would cost $40,615, according to GM. The Midnight package adds $1,995 to the truck's sticker price.
