General Motors Co.'s shop-and-drive Marketplace app is adding a new feature for Buick drivers that will allow drivers to shop nearby restaurants and reserve a table.

Yelp Reservations is the newest program on Buick Marketplace, available on model year 2017 or newer Buicks. It allows drivers to search for restaurants in a 25-mile radius and reserve a table for up to 10 people from within the Marketplace app.

With the new Yelp Reservations app, users can search by types of cuisine and price range, and can call the restaurant directly. Yelp, launched in 2004, is a popular platform for finding and reviewing local businesses and restaurants.

“Whether drivers want to make a dinner reservation on the go, or get recommendations for restaurants in a new city, the newly added Yelp Reservations brings simple convenience to the car,” Sam Russell, director of Buick Marketing, said in a statement Friday. “Making new features like this available for vehicles already on the road enhances our vehicles with unexpected new benefits for our customers.”

GM rolled out the Marketplace app in all Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC vehicles late last year. It's an in-dash application that allows drivers to order coffee, buy gas or get discounts on oil change and GM accessories.

Since then, GM has been slowly adding features to the apps, some of which are brand-specific. Yelp Reservations is currently exclusive to Buick. The premium brand also has an in-dash fuel payment app from ExxonMobil. Chevrolet and Shell have their own in-dash fuel payment app.
