Doug Brooks loves his recently purchased sleek, stainless steel DeLorean.

The stereotypical comments from admirers, not so much.

"They usually ask where the flux capacitor is," said Brooks, a resident of Highland Township.

"It's because everyone knows this is the car that was featured in 'Back to the Future' with Michael J. Fox."

In fact, in the movie, Fox's character (Marty McFly) is set to journey into the future on the evening of Oct. 21, 2015 in Dr. Brown's very high tech DeLorean."

So where will Brooks be on that date?

"Probably at a football game," said Brooks, who works at the TACOM in Warren.

Brooks only obtained the DeLorean in June, but he's wanted one since he was 11-year-old.

"Back in 1982 a guy who owned a DeLorean let me sit in his car and that was it," Brooks said.

"And then the movie came out and that took the cake."

Brooks bought the car from the grandson of the original owner in Grand Rapids.

"I didn't have to do much to it at all," Brooks said.

"I keep it nice and shiny with stainless steel cleaner."

And the personalized license plate on the DeLorean is perfect.

It reads "DOCBRWN."
