Purdy Good rocked the Cruise
The highlight of Mark Fikany's Dream Cruise was jamming with The King.
Fikany's classic rock band, Purdy Good, played everything from the Beastie Boys to Alice Cooper to Little Richard for five hours outside of Peabody's restaurant in downtown Birmingham as cruisers passed by. But the group got a special treat as they played "Burning Love": Elvis himself -- or at least a convincing Elvis impersonator -- hopped out of a cream-colored Cadillac and joined the band with some vintage dance moves.
"It doesn't get any better than that," Fikany, 49 of Grosse Pointe Park, said.
This was the band's second-straight year playing the Dream Cruise.
"It was phenomenal," he said. "Virtually everyone driving south on Woodward turned their heads and rocked with us. It was by far the best weather, attendance and attitude I've ever seen."
