Kid Rock picked to sing during 'Motown the Musical' performance
Kid Rock attended Friday evening's performance of "Motown the Musical" at the Fisher Theatre, a publicist for the show confirmed. Not only was the rocker in attendance, but he was chosen by the performer who plays Diana Ross to sing along with her during a regular segment of the show when she calls on an audience member for a quick duet. We heard through the grapevine that he took the opportunity to trail into a version of "Sweet Home Alabama," but that tidbit could not be confirmed.
Prince will perform extended jam on 'SNL'
Prince is the musical guest on this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live," hosted by "SNL" alum Chris Rock. Instead of doing the usual two songs, though, the Purple One will instead play one eight minute segment in the middle of the show with his band, 3rdeyegirl.
Hugh Jackman treated for skin cancer
Hugh Jackman had a basal cell carcinoma removed recently, People magazine reports. This is the actor's third visit to the doctor to treat his skin cancer. Jackman took to Instagram Monday to encourage friends and fans to wear sunscreen.
Lorraine Toussaint may return as Vee on "OITNB"
Lorraine Toussaint, who played the evil Vee on the Netflix hit "Orange is the New Black," will be filming for the show's third season this week, according to TMZ. Interesting, considering viewers assume Vee was hit by a car and killed at the end of season two. It's possible, however, that she's returning the show in the form of a flashback.
■Actress Elizabeth Norment died this week, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Most recently the 61-year-old actress played Nancy Kaufberger, Frank Underwood's secretary on the Netflix series "House of Cards."
■A judge ruled that Amanda Bynes must spend another 30 days in a psychiatric facility. She was placed there following bizarre behavior this month, including a DUI.
■A bench warrant has been issued for former "Scandal" star Columbus Short after he failed to appear at a court hearing for battery charges that were filed against him following a March restaurant brawl.
