Volunteers haunt Nightmare on Elmhurst in Detroit

Scaring the daylights out of folks is a team effort at Cass Community Services' Nightmare on Elmhurt.

More than 100 volunteers have banded together to scare those who dare to enter the attraction's outdoor haunted maze.

"I love this time of year and the chance each year to come up with a more frightening experience," said the Rev. Faith Fowler, Cass's executive director. "It's not only an important fundraiser for the women and children we serve, it provides a fun event for the community."

Located next to their Scott Building headquarters at 11850 Woodrow Wilson St. in Detroit, Nightmare on Elmhurst runs from 7-11 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 12 and younger (though it's not recommended for kids 5 and younger). Free, secured parking is available. For information, call (313) 883-2277.
