Cheers: Bacco celebrates 13 years with deals for diners

Bacco Ristorante in Southfield has been serving fine Italian food for 13 years and is celebrating its odd-year anniversary with a special menu.

Lunch or dinner guests can choose from a special menu of $13 entrees May 4-15 (except for Saturdays). It's an attractive deal, considering most of Bacco's entrees are north of $20.

Among the featured entrees are strozzapreti norcina with sausage, truffle oil, tomatoes and cream. Other pasta dishes are tomato basil gnocchi, cavatelli with wild mushroom ragu and braised beef brisket pappardelle (those very wide, velvety noodles). Meat lovers can try the flank steak, house burger or lamb meatballs with white polenta and grilled scallions. There's also a salmon and white fish dish.

Since debuting Bacco in 2002, chef Luciano Del Signore has also opened Bigalora wood-fired pizza restaurants (which all have fantastic craft cocktails, as well as Italian dishes) in Southfield, Royal Oak and Ann Arbor.

Restaurant weeks highlight local spots

Ferndale Restaurant Week runs through Sunday. Participating restaurants are offering $10, $20 or $30 meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Choose from the upscale, such as the $30, three-course dinner at Cork Wine Pub, to the casual — the $10 lunch combo at M-Brew that includes a pulled pork sandwich, cole slaw and a root beer.

Detroit Restaurant Week returns for the 2015 spring edition May 1-10. The dining promotion offers three-course dinners for a fixed price of $30. Participating restaurants include familiar names like Roast, La Dolce Vita, Detroit Seafood Market and Andiamo Detroit Riverfront. A full restaurant list and menu is on the way. Visit

In Ann Arbor, the bi-annual restaurant week returns June 21-26. Some spots offer two-for-one pricing, others may have two or three fixed-price meals. Lunch is $15, dinner is $28.
