Big Sean to host scholarship fundraiser Thursday

Detroit rapper Big Sean has invited area business and community leaders to participate in the first Uplifting Our Youth Scholarship Fundraiser on Thursday in Birmingham at Fratarcangeli Wealth Management.

Tickets, $100, include admission with food, mingling and a silent auction that include autographed items from Tiger Woods, LeBron James, VIP tickets to an upcoming Big Sean show and more. Proceeds will benefit the Sean Anderson Scholarship Fund, which gives scholarships to low-income graduates of Detroit Public Schools who are enrolled or have been accepted to an accredited university.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our mission of giving back to the youth in our city of Detroit," Myra Anderson, president of the Sean Anderson Foundation, said in a news release.

"We understand the importance of education as well as the challenges of its affordability for most students and their families. It is our hope that through the funds raised from this event that we can help nurture and open more doors for our hometown leaders of tomorrow to thrive."

Thursday's event is 5:30-7:30 p.m. and is at 300 Park, Suite 265, Birmingham. Visit for tickets.
