CONCERT OF COLORS

in Detroit

This week’s Concert of Colors programming starts Thursday with a multicultural poetry reading, followed by music from Mike Ellison at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History (315 E. Warren) starting at 6:30 p.m. On Friday, the Detroit Institute of Arts hosts pop/jazz group Leftover Cuties in Rivera Court (4 p.m.), followed by “Art is a Weapon: Five Scenes of Frida and Diego in Detroit” and “Jauja” in the Detroit Film Theatre (5200 Woodward). Saturday and Sunday the party moves over to the Max M. Fisher Music Center (3711 Woodward) for three stages of live music, food trucks, kids activities and a biergarten. Doors open at 1 p.m. both days. One returning musical highlight is the Don Was Detroit All-Star Review (8 p.m. Sun.), which this year pays tribute to the Electrifying Mojo.
