Erica Campbell to perform Friday at Triumph Church charitable concert
Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Erica Campbell will be in concert Friday night at a special event on the city’s east side.
As a part of its season of giving, Triumph Church will distribute 1,000 “Holiday Boxes of Love” to those who attend the event at the church’s East Campus, 2760 E. Grand Blvd. Each box contains a whole turkey, stuffing, cornbread mix, mixed vegetables, cranberry sauce and dessert.
Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the free concert following at 6:30 p.m. Holiday boxes will be distributed after the concert. The event is co-sponsored by the UAW-Ford and Swanson Funeral Homes.
Campbell is best known as a member of the gospel duo Mary Mary. Her first solo album, “Help,” earned the Los Angeles native a best gospel album Grammy in 2014.
On New Year’s Eve, Triumph Church will hold several free concerts during worship services featuring Grammy Award winners Fantasia and gospel singer Smokie Norful.
“The greatest joy of Christmas is in giving,” said the Rev. Solomon Kinloch Jr., senior pastor of Triumph Church. “We’re blessed to be able to continue a legacy of giving this holiday season with free concerts from acclaimed musical artists and by feeding over 1,000 families.”
Triumph Church serves more than 15,000 members with campuses in Detroit, Southfield and Northville.
